Surrounded by fields of cotton and corn, in the midst of Darlington, South Carolina sits Darlington Raceway, NASCAR's first super-speedway. A place with a rich history from the early days of racing. I had the great pleasure to spend my Labor Day weekend at The Lady In Black celebrating NASCAR's 1985-89 era. Darlington Raceway's Throwback Weekend has become an interest for many fans and the tradition has truly taken on the form of the historic past. From that last lap move Denny Hamlin pulled on Joey Logano to take the checkers in the 'Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200' to the 80’s outfits everyone was wearing, the weekend was nothing short of entertaining!
As I sat in the drivers meeting with Michael McDowell, seeing so many NASCAR icons in one place at one time was very remarkable. It's so cool to see the true legends of our sport keep returning and honor a place that many of them have phenomenal achievements at. This is another reason why Darlington is such a significant part of the past as well as the future.
One of the most exciting parts about Darlington’s Throwback Weekend is the paint schemes! Between the Xfinity Series and the Cup Series, there were innumerable paint schemes that I liked! Check out some of my favorites below!
Aside from the paint schemes, we can't forget about the outfits! Below are some of my favorite Throwback Weekend fashion trends!
